Yup. Coverage is pretty decent (though not perfect) in FF mode at 300mm. In the middle of the range you get significant black edges, while the wide end is only slightly worse than the long end. 1:1 mode is what I'd use at either extreme.

I did some shots with the new 55-300 on the K1 yesterday evening.

First at 55mm, second at 78mm and third at 300mm. Pictures are not edited.

Yes, but it seems you need to stop down a bit. Wide open, corners are very dark at 300mm.

I use the K3 - 55-300WR Platform all the time and it works very well end to end.
I don't pay much attention to the K1 - 55-300 WR PLM but this thread sure got my attention. All for improved auto focus? A shoe box pin hole camera is a lot cheaper AF is fast & silent with similar affect.

Does in-camera peripheral image correction help with the more minor effects at 55mm and 300mm?

I've noticed on the K-3ii perhaps at the 300mm end the colours/rendering isn't as good as the 55 end... just an observation

Its still a very good lens for the money though

The vignetting (dark corners), really would bother me!

Please do some comparison shots with peripheral image correction on/off and post the results . . .
