I hope Ricoh updates the old 20mm or 24mm lenses to give K-1 users a wide+small solution. We have none in production. The supply of used legacy options is shrinking; lenses break, "old junk" sometimes gets thrown out when old owners die.

Samyang makes larger, wide aperture (20/1.8 24/1.4) lenses. A 2.8 or even 4.0 lens Pentax option would be much smaller.

Such an excellent 'kit lens' - another one Pentaxians can be proud of.

My 28~105 is always in my go bag (Domke F3), usually attached to the K-1.

I took only the 28-105 and 15-30 on a recent trip to China (with the K-1). It really covered pretty well everything I needed, and the quality was top-notch. I could even have dispensed with the 15-30 without missing too much (502 shots with the 28-105, 174 with the 15-30, of which 75 were at 28mm or above).

Just ordered this lens yesterday. After lot of thinking, this lens seemed to offer best value for money. Other options were Pentax D FA 24-70 2.8 (overpriced), Tamron SP 28-75 2.8 (bad build quality), Sigma HSM 24-70 2.8 (only available used). I hope I made the right choice.

I have the K-1/D-FA28-105mm combo, coming from a K-3II/DA*16-50mm, the former feels a lot better balanced and more reliable results (AF, Sharpness etc).

I have a great one of these for sale in the market place at a great price. Can't believe no one has bought it yet. Making me think I should just keep it for travel, lots smaller than the 24-70 I bought to replace it.

Pretty much what I do. The K1 + 28-105 + M20/4 will easily fit in my smallest bag, and I am pretty well covered. I can even squeeze in a DA35/2.4 or a Voigtländer Ultron 40/2, if I want something faster in the kit.

I bought the 28-105 for use on APS-C (K-5IIs and K-70), because many of the shots I take are within that range, and it is an excellent lens. More recently I paired it with the Tamron 10-24, which is a similar size and weight, and that neat combo covers a very wide range.

Yes, good idea. When I was shooting landscapes with the K3. When hiking, sometimes you want to frame a chain of mountains far away, or zoom in some forest partially covered with fog, 50mm or even 70mm are too short. And carrying another long zoom / prime is too large / heavy. The DFA100 is an option, but we have to swap lenses, not so convenient is the weather is rainy or windy. Having both 28mm and 100mm is already a good range, very usable on apsc, and also full frame compatible in case of a future upgrade to a full frame camera body (when the K1 will be cheaper for instance).
