What happened to the firmware update with mechanical SR in video mode?

Any gossip?

If they are writing a new camera firmware for a new camera model, they must not have so much time left for doing free software updates for existing camera models.

Well, they are up to V1.4 for the K1 and introduced electronic shutter, square crop mode, night vision mode and long exposure fix. So yes, they are undoubtably working on the next camera and unusually for Pentax/Ricoh adding real functionality updates in some of the firmware updates. Nice although I regard them as icing on the cake rather than something I would automatically expect.

Probably planning 4K support, alongside mechanical SR in video. Would be amazing.

Magic Lantern firmware made 4K video possible for the Canon 5DIII through a software improvement alone, so never say never for the K-1.

Hopefully they will not messed it up and add such crucial feature as FOCUS PEAKING WHILE FILMING...

They should add more people in order to expedite things.

No idea, likely their software developers are busy working on... whatever they're working on. They had the 1.30 for the 645Z recently, and some RIcoh G800/800SE stuff (is this the same team?). Maybe preparing the 4K Theta? (is this the same team?)
Not shooting video, I rather hope for improved algorithms, the KP ones or a next iteration.
