K-1 trashes every system under 10k$ value in pure IQ when pixel shift is used. Also their own 645Z. So yes, from that point there is no comparison to any Canon.

I've been shooting eagles this spring, with other photographers as well. And of course, I was the only Pentaxian as usual.
They all usually stayed till the sun just was down behind the trees on the horizon, and could not understand how I can stay longer continuing shooting. Because I have K-1
Here is ISO 12800, and it's crop. Taken at dark when all Nikon and Canon guys left.
I became addicted to the night shooting with K-1.

ISO 12,800? Pretty impressive. And a nice shot.

I have said it a thousand times. Canon sensors are 2 generations behind Sony and shows no sign of catching up. The 6DII is not as good as the K-3 in terms of DR and really represents what has been wrong with Canon for a long time. I left Canon when the 5DII was released and have not looked back. The 6DII is way over priced for what it delivers and I'm pretty sure Canon will find that out soon enough.

I was looking at some images shot with the Canon 5DIV at 800. We were shooting the same event under the same lighting. I was using my D-FA* 70-200mm and she had the Canon L equivalent (not sure what generation). My ISO 800 shots looked as good as her ISO 100 shots in terms of shadow detail. If you push the Canon files just a little they start to fall apart.

In Germany the Canon 6d2 is sold at 2100 EUR to consumers.
The purchase price for stores is reported as 1300 EUR.
Store owners will love this camera and find millions of ways of convincing noobs this is the top tier camera they want.
It will sell like hotcakes.

Also impressive. Guess I'm going to have to try that with my Z. Just got an A*300. Have an adapter for my K1, and will try that, too. SR on?

Yes, I always keep SR on when shoot hand held with the heavy lens. Someone can say it's not a good idea. Perhaps. For my hands it helps, I noticed it long time ago.

Sorry, I re-checked the exif, it was 300mm with TC - 420mm on K-1.
I forgot. That explains f5.6 not f4.

Excellent shot of eagles, my green inner monster hates you because you were there and not me
I'm sure in Canikon land they say "our AFC is better so we get more in focus poor quality shots than you"
Only bought the K1 because I had the glass and was only going digital if Pentax released a FF. Now need to up my skills.
Yes Canikon has glass Pentax doesn't but Pentax also has glass Canikon doesn't.
If you can't push the file much in post, then what is the point of digital? Unless you are a fanatical OOC photographer (Or completely inexperienced PP failure like me)
Also having the leeway to shoot in much lower light allows more time to hopefully get the image you want or fall in love with.

To me it seemed like Canon was like "Oh shit, we have to release a 6D update! Ok, well let's just throw something semi-decent together & just put it out there, people will buy it up just because it's a cheap Full Frame."

In Germany it costs more than the K-1 initial MSRP.

Except its not even semi-decent for the money. The K-5 has better DR.

I dropped by Fred Miranda's site and the Canon crowd had circled the wagons regarding the 6DmkII, especially those that had preorders. Almost all posts smacked of denial, much like Trump voters.

I own both and there are some instances in which the K1, shooting with PS, delivers perceivably sharper looking images, especially if moire patterns are an issue. PS pretty much eliminates moire, which is certainly an issue with the Canon 50 meg FF bodies.

Why do I need to push that much in post an image? For landscape (althrough I'm not a big fan of landscape photography) all my friends are using filters, even the ones with Sony or Nikon for the exact the same reason: they don't want to push too much in post production the file. For portaits, which I love to take, I don't need dynamic range. It's far more important the composition and the attitude of the model.

That being said, Canon has done a stupid thing with 6D Mark II (if the upcomming test shows that the dynamic range is virtualy the same as the one from 6D) and I'm saying this as a Canon shooter. 5D Mark IV has a very good dynamic range and that's why is strange what Canon has done wih 6D Mark II.
