Technical Questions about K-1 and Wifi

OK I admit to the following:

1. I am technologically illiterate.
2. I don't read manuals like I should.
3. I only use the parts of the camera that I know I need. The rest of the stuff I have no idea about

Anyway the K-1 has a wifi setting on there but I am not really sure what that is supposed to do.

In the mean time I was poking around B&H's site and I found this:

SanDisk 200GB Connect Wireless Stick SDWS4-200G-A46 B&H Photo

That little device there looks amazing!

What I am wondering though is if I could say for example pair the K-1's wifi with that wifi memory stick and transfer files from the memory card to the memory stick for later use?

If so that would be pretty cool.

You wouldn't be able to do that because the K-1 won't be able to interface with it. The stick only works with computers, tablets, and phones.

You can download photos and control the camera remotely (including live view) using Ricoh's Image Sync app (for Android and iOS). Users have developed PC apps that do the same thing:

Yes, the K-1 already has the WiFi capability to transfer images without additional support (aside from apps for the device or PC). I don't do that because I find it easier to simply pop the card out and use a card reader plugged into my PC. I would not want to mess with 36 MP images on my device and I usually use RAW.

I occasionally use wifi and the image sync app to upload a photo to my phone so I can text it to someone. I shoot RAW and you have to convert the photo in-camera to jpeg before you transfer so the phone knows what to do with it.
