Originally posted by CDW The GH4 offers menu selection of CODECS ranging from highly compressed to very high bit rate for 1080. The K1 uses a low bit rate for video. As has been mentioned numerous times, and it applies to any camera capable of shooting in 4K, the best option is to shoot in 4K and scale down to 1080. This offers better quality than shooting natively in 1080.
Not apparent in the footage I had to put together in Premiere Elements, CDW - 250 Gb of audio and 1920x1080 video, of a two hour event, from two GoPros, two MP3 recorders, Pentax K-1 and Panny GH5.
Just shows real world usage versus theory and specs.
Maybe 4k might have been noticeable, maybe not. Using a laptop with 8Gb of RAM rather than a workstation, I didn't want to know about it.
