K-1 upgrade circuit board or not?

With the launch of K-1 II, the owners of the original K-1 got an upgrade offer. The offer was to send in the camera and upgrade the circuit board (and logo) to K-1 II. The price in USA was set to 550 US$ and in Canada to 690 CAD. The upgrade service would be avalable from 21. may to 30. september 2018. Are you going to upgrade your original K-1?

The upgrade service will probably be available world wide. DPR just had prices for north america because their primary Ricoh-Pentax contact was the north american contact.

The poll runs out 30. september 2018

It's a no brainer. I will absolutely upgrade when it's actually offered.

Stuck between option 1 and 5. Meanwhile I am going to continue to take photographs. If I hadn't just spent $5K US on a dental implant I could have got the K1 II, upgraded my K1 and still have almost $2,500 left over for lenses. Kind of shows what a great deal the Pentax K1 really is.

Too early to decide, but maybe IF there is a real improvement to raw files that can’t be duplicated with normal post processing.

Depends on the number of shutter actuations (need to check) and the desire to have a back up K1... However, the business model is wicked clever and having choices is appreciated...

I think it's a good idea and I am happy they are offering it.

As for me, I'll wait and see. I have no need for better high ISO, little use for pixel shift most of the time (that might change if it becomes more accessible) but AF improvements could sway me.

I wouldn't mind Upgrading at all....however NOT with Precision Camera doing the work !...... I DONT deal with unreliable/questionable companies.
After all my Snarky remarks , badmouthing , questioning ,nay-saying , and hyperbole over the new release....I actually read all the info I could find , and got sucked in !
I used a partial gift card I had on the new MkII pre order deal with the grip for $1996.....guess I'm All-In now.....lol.

Probably not. I'm very happy with the K-1 as it is. Not really interested in the pixel shift, but if I can get considerably cleaner high-ISO images I might still bite.

The logical thing is not to upgrade, for me. The K-1 is already overkill (in image quality, which is the main improvement). I'm much better served by buying one of the new lenses.
So I'll guess I'll either upgrade, or sell it if I can get a good price and get the II.

I have the impression the camera has a better auto focus, so that alone makes it worth while to upgrade.

I vote not relevant as I don't have a K-1. However, if I did I would most likely upgrade it.

Of course. I want to wear this body out, and Ricoh is intent on helping me do it.

I thank Ricoh for making this available, but I wish they would adopt a wider time window for the upgrade offer. I don't want to have a forced "rush" job because everyone else is upgrading and I would feel comfortable with more time to decide after I get reports back on others who have taken Ricoh up on the offer. A four month window is pretty skinny!

For me it would be cheaper to pick up a K-1 II and just sell the K-1. That also nets a free grip, which is super nice.
