I entered four pictures taken with the K-1 in the Captured at Kew Category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition in October not expecting to go far. In November two of them got shortlisted and then in January I was informed that an entry had won an award – Commended, Highly Commended, Finalist, 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.
Now my picture "The Sackler Crossing" has been awarded 1st Place in the Captured at Kew Category of the competition:
I've attended the press launch of the IGPOTY winners exhibition at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew where my picture is on display. I was also presented with a certificate and prize.
The exhibition is now open and will tour the UK and abroad. My picture has also been printed in lavish book of the competition and has already appeared online/print. Kew Gardens have now sent me a prize.
I'd never entered a competition before!
You all have this wonderful camera and lenses so go out and see what you can achieve.
Well done ... but I said that when I picked up my award. There was also a k3 and 645z winner too. So Pentax achieved at least 4 awards that I noticed. Have you made plans to be there next year ?
