K-1 MK2 Long Exposure Performance

Been experimenting a bit with long exposures. Not yet final conclusions but MK2 is working like KP in this genre - very low random hot pixel amount. Here is an example:

5 minutes @ ISO100. I could find only 4 hot pixels in Lightroom after a longish zooming session which is ridiculously low. The file survived heavy-handed postprocessing in Silver Efex.

Lovely shot and great to hear. I've done some handheld night shots since i got the camera two days ago but not tried any long exposures yet.

i used to spend a lot of time in Vancouver. I worked for a company that was headquartered there. Beautiful city. I'm glad your sculpture is still standing. Seem to remember some problems with it in February 2010?

That's a really beautiful shot, and an astonishing finding re hot pixels. Glad to see you're finding some positive aspects to the K-1II's image processing. Let's hope it works out for you overall

On the subject of long-exposure sensor performance ...

The Sensor Noise DB. – Brendan Davey Photography

The K-1 was already doing very well in that area. Lowest noise FF sensor in his 300 sec exposure tests. So if the K-1 II is producing improvements there, that would be impressive.

Yes sir, will provide few crops later today. Perhaps another image example too. But, so far, it seems I am good to go when it comes to long exposures and low ISO. Performance is better than with my previous MK1 which had no white-dot problems.

Really OT, but---I once flew into a pond beside the headwaters of the Kanektok in Alaska for a float trip, in a Beaver. Then an Otter showed up. I couldn't believe my eyes, that it could land and take-off in basically what would pass as a smallish farm pond anywhere else....

I confirm, I cannot see the white dots.

Here is a crop from the darkest part of the image pushed about 2 stops and also shadows opened up +80 in LR. Real torture test for any camera especially when there was no LENR in use. Just 5min exposure using the excellent bulb-timer feature. The output went to Photoshop and Nik Silver Efex from there.

This is pure win in terms of long exposure performance. Only luminance noise which looks natural like slightly pushed ISO100 film after batch of Rodinal.

Those were great night shots ! 1/4 and 1/5 shutter speed handheld ? I have never seen the SR work this well on my previous bodies (K200D and K-30).
Were you using Dynamic Pixel Shift or just SR ?

Waiting for my K-1 II to arrive tuesday with the 28-105 . Have the DA 50 already. Can't wait.

SR on my inexpensive Q-7 has worked that well.
I took this picture at 1/4 second while holding the camera out in an awkward manner.

Nice one. I must have extraordinarily shaky hands. That cat must have been very idle. I usually shoot my three 1 year olds at 1/125 to 1/250 to avoid motion blur.
