I did and she answered the door in a towel. That was the end of it.
Or that's all you'll admit to, one or the other.

Did you say " Can I borrow that towel for a second?"

That could be too bad for me also, as I might have to buy another lens eventually.

I think the DA*50-135 is only lens of this ~type I have. It’s fantastic for slow movement like parades, but worthless for the type of sports shooting I typically do (athletes running towards me).
Maybe you'll have to invest in the DFA*70-200mm F2.8 or the 55-300 PLM

Yes it seems to have, at least its keeping the thread alive for others who may have not seen it yet.

Is that Sigma lens screw drive or HSM?

Any screw drive lenses suck at AF.C relative to other drive types.

Some screw drives primarily excel in the first position acquisition speed but are not good in multiple quick adjustments typical for AF.C sequences.

Yes, smile big there because the *70-200 is expensive and a bit heavy; I have a wonderful lens kit, but I’ve never spent that much on one.

Apparently the 55-300 PLM is quite good, and I may have to try one. But I’m hesitant because of my experience with the original DA55-300. While it was very good, I eventually decided the F70-210/4-5.6 had better IQ. And since I often shot it at 300mm with relatively slow apertures, I reasoned to myself “why should I get merely good shots with this lens when I could have captured the same moment in a great shot with the F*300/4.5?”

Nevertheless, its AF design and performance is intriguing ...

I love it as a "take with me" lens. Not so much as a premium quality image producer. But it can surprise you. The 55-300 PLM and 21 ltd. are an amazing walk around set.

Thanks for the input, Norm. You’re convincing me I should try It someday; I certainly appreciate compact lenses!

And yet its still one of the best lenses I've ever used for action... I think you statement is far too generic. However its true they don't handle subtle adjustments well, they can handle quick adjustments.

Yes, my FA135/2.8 (which is perhaps the fastest) will re-adjust relatively quickly under AF-C, typically allowing me to get 3-4 good shots of an approaching athlete - although not necessarily in focus at every possible moment along the way.

I too have an FA 135mm F2.8 (for sale) I tried it at the dog park in the winter, its supposed to focus fast and maybe its faster than many lenses but I found it seriously couldn't keep up, maybe my Sigma 100-300mm F4.0 EX DG is just in another league!

It is faster than many lenses, but I’ve never used that Sigma, so I can’t compare it to that.

I often use the rear AF button, typically with AF-C.

I personally never got used to the rear button, its just not natural for me.

It’s a little more awkward, and sometimes I forget to use it, but it seems to work better.
