Who of you uses Automatic 33 (AF) on the K-1 (and for which purpose)?

As someone who has always shifted the focus to the subject through the viewfinder and as someone who has sometimes been struggling to catch a scene (e.g. when doing street photography) I wonder whether the AF33 automatic would be a useable option/improvement under certain circumstances.

So I'm curious whether there are people who use this kind of autofocusing, letting the camera decide what to focus on? If you use it how and when?

Can't say I've ever used it. Even using the 9 AF points, it usually misses what I'm trying to focus on. I prefer single point AF, personally.

I am curious to see the responses on this. AF-33 is full spread auto giving the camera discretion to set point of focus (basically what one gets in Auto/"green mode"). I have used this mode on my K-3, but usually as a "Hail Mary" strategy when I have little hope of snagging a usable shot without it and/or shutter burst.

BTW...for "street" I go pre-focus manual at f/8 and 35mm focal length on FF film.

Never use it. i don't like the "blunderbuss" approach to focussing.

I have only tried it a few times when i had clear open skies and I expected a fast moving subject. As with the other posters I was not impressed. I have very little problem with spot.
