K-1 firmware 1.5 released

Just installed 1.5 update - everything seems stable, no immediate changes noticed.

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/digital/k1.html

Changes to V1.50:

- Optimized performance when attaching new lens HD PENTAX-D FA*50mmF1.4 SDM AW.

- Improved stability for general performance.

The date of the firmware is April 13, 2018. Looks like they were waiting for the DFA 50/1.4 lens to be available before releasing it.

I've never had any problems installing firmware updates to my K-1, and before that my other Pentax cameras, but nothing seems to happen when I turn on the camera with MENU depressed as per the instructions. Anyone else having problems?

I have tried v1.5 using my HD D FA 100 mm macro which is notorious for hunting AF. It appears to have improved in this regard especially in low light conditions. Is it possible the AF improvements in the K-1 Mk ii have been incorporated into this FW upgrade?

It'd be great if it did ... along with handheld pixelshift.

I am sure they would have trumpeted that.

Actually I thought they might sneak it in on the quiet... You wouldn't want to disgruntle the Mk ii owners? But you would want to maximize the improvements when using the new D FA*50?
My initial assessment is that the HD D FA 100 mm Macro lens locks focus in a snappy fashion without hunting.

Anyhow maybe more feedback from users?

BTW Ian, there is no handheld PS sorry.

Perhaps the file got auto renamed when you copied it over?

Merely improved stability. Nothing to get excited about

This would explain why there was no need for an update for the K-1 II. But the K-3 II has me puzzled. Had they already known about this lens back in mid 2016, when the last update was released?
