It’s a digital camera so when in doubt, take more than one picture.

Good idea. There are so many practical cases in the field that calculating with tables etc. is not very practical and slow. Better have a rough idea of an aperture baseline and than take a few shots of the same scene at different aperture around the baseline and then select the best shot after viewer on a larger display.

Usually just the wide angle lenses had these markings. They are still very useful. Just set the lens to those markings and no need to focus.
For street photography this helps eliminate the step having to worry about focus. The flow of a city street is always changing and evolving every second. The wide angle lenses have a much shorter distance to infinity focus which makes them more suitable for hyperfocal shooting. What I like about shooting this way on the street it gives a general uniform view similar to how the eye sees naturally.

I found this image I think demonstrates what I mean using the Pentax 28mm ƒ2 A-series set to the hyperfocal markings. The dog walker was very close 5f/1m. There is a very nice balance to the focus of this image even with the proximity of the foreground objects which remain in focus while the focus point is set at 10f/3.5m.

K-1 DNG ISO 3200 ƒ8 1,600th sec
