Is the Sigma EF-610 DG Super compatible with K1?

Does anyone know if the Sigma EF-610 DG Super flash is compatible with K-1 II and safe to use? I dare not plug it in and try it, having busted a camera once before by using an incompatible flash.

I assume it's designed for the Pentax hot-shoe (as several versions are available). Assuming it is, then yes - it's compatible

Ah yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that I bought it to use with my K200D and it works fine with that. The hot shoe on the K-1 II looks exactly like the one on the K200D so one might be forgiven for assuming it will work except this table doesn't include it (see Pentax section at the bottom): https://www.sigmaphoto.com/flashes/flashes-resources/ef-610-dg-super-flash

In which case there's certainly no danger of damaging the K-1. I guess there's a small chance that the firmware in the camera and flash might have incompatibilities, but I seriously doubt it, and there's no harm trying it.

Works on my K-30 and K-5iis, see no reason why it should damage K1 if you try it....

If pTTL works alright with the K200D, no Pentax camera will be fried.

This does not mean the flash will work as intended. I own 2 flashes which function as they should with the *istDS and the K200D, but not with K-5.

It seems from K-7 to K-5 Pentax has modified the protocol, backwards compatible with Pentax flashes.
But if the communication was based on reverse engineering, it may or may not work.

EDIT:
My two flashes not working with the K-5 are:
Soligor DG-340DZ (a rather simple one)
Cullmann D 4500-P (offers an astonishing range of features).
The Cullmann was sold also as Dörr, Exacta, and probably other labels.

There were several threads about this flash and the k-1 in 2016 as a potential pairing... But none of the threads ever stated definitively that it works.

Thank you for the feedback. Since no disaster was predicted, with palpitating heart, I tried it. Just one shot in the basic TTL mode. It worked fine. No frying noises or smoke. The zoom tracked in and out with the lens perfectly. I'll try out the other functions (e.g. fill flash) when I have time and update this post accordingly.

I have that flash and it is safe on K-5 and K100d Super. i wish I had experience with other flashes, though, as sometimes this flash seems a little unintuitive and fiddly. I can mostly do a good job with it; my experiences with other flashes might be similar, more or less but who knows.
