Pentax K-1II is the second on PhotographyLife

Pentax K-1II got the second place after Nikon D850. I think it's impressive and honest: Best DSLR Cameras You Can Buy in 2018, Ranked - Photography Life

seems like the criteria are image quality.. Video and AF are not as important....
But the FF mirrorless are not covered. Sony A7III would probably trump most of these cameras.

A very fair rating. He is equally fair in his reasons for stating why mirrorless is the future ahead of us regarding camera technology. I agree with his opinion, that DSLR technology has pretty much reached the end of its evolutionary path, and mirrorless technologies are what camermakers will in general be investing in. I still shoot the K3II with DA560, but am no longer waiting for a successor. Shooting the Sony A7rII with the Zeiss Loxia lenses has made me much more passionate about the mirrorless camera platform. So much so, that I will probably shoot the K3II for a few more years, and switch to mirrorless for wildlife also.

I believe Pentax should make plans about a mirrorless platform.

The comparison was for DSLRs the Sony A7III is not a DSLR.

Shouldn't be too much of a surprise that the K1 II is a great landscape camera

(But yes, some people seem more eager to carp on about video and the speed of continuous autofocus - for landscapes? Oh well...)

Not so bad. K-1 mkII. Is my next step(upgrade). But still K-1 is already a great camera. Landscape, portrait, studio. Even venues if you know what you are doing. As good as any of them. I think that this is pretty good already. Now. Are mirrorless gonna take over from here? Suppose that in some way they are superior already.

But for me, hearing that mirror going, makes it little more s8xy..other than having almost video camera on all the time, taking picture of everything. Then you just go throught of all of them. Pick the winner -> wohoo! I’v allways been more for craft, spending time and also facing dissapointments. So it will make that one good one stand out more. I can see advantage of those sony A7/9 especially III model very attractive alternative for traditional dslr.

Thx for posting this top 10 list. I have a K1 and am very happy with this camera. I agree with the list, seems well considered.

I had almost tamped down my urge to get the K-1MkII but now the fire is burning again. My existing K3 and K-S2 are both great, so I can't say I "need" it... but the urge is there.

One thing I would say about "need" vs. want goes back to my days in sales. We used to talk about the "nice to have" and the "need to have" with respect to pricing. In the latter case a customer would find the way to stretch almost invariably, so the only problem in closing was a competitor's pricing (if applicable). It was in the "nice to have" category where pricing became very finely sliced if you will. I think Pentax has looked at this pretty well---in the marketing area it's about the only thing they seem to be able to do well! A K1 or K1mkII is going to be about the best priced stills camera that can be bought today, all in. So, I would consider that against your lens collection and strongly consider buying one if you've got lenses that will work. And if not now, then make that jump in a year or so after prices fall, bearing in mind that there are fewer of them around in the first place, though.
