Grip to body fitment question

Was wondering if your battery grip mated flush to the bottom of the body when tightened down, or if there's a bit of a gap? Just noticed this the other day; function isn't affected but when tightening the grip to the camera body, it appears that the grip mating surface is slightly concave in relation to the bottom of the camera. You can actually see light between the two.

This is normal for a BG-5 and I would assume other Pentax grips. If you look there are seals around openings for WR.

Ok thanks for confirming. I didn't notice any gaps with my Canon grips hence the question. No biggie really as it works fine; just asked because if I needed to exchange my grip, I could still do so before the end of the month.

Gap between battery grip and body

This is new for the K1 and K1II.
I've owned, the 10D, 20D, K5 and K3 and the respective battery grips. Never saw this until I bought the fullframe.

Well it's not the body as it'll sit flat on a level surface; just the grip where it meets the body isn't flush. The bottom of the grip which I have a Manfrotto 488RC QD plate attached to is flat.

I wonder if it's done on purpose to provide tension to the locking screw so as not to back out accidentally. The tighter you go, it seems the grip's top plate flexes to match.

The gap appears to be normal, even on other bodies (see post #3 in this thread):

Thanks for that. Apologies for not having searched more diligently as my question has been asked and answered before.

I'm the one who started that other thread Battery grip D-BG6 issue.

I think the gap seems to be normal with the BG6, but it wasn't there on K-20, K-5 and k-3ii and I still believe it's some lousy design with a cheapish look.
But as it doesn't affect any functions I can/must live it.

On the DBG-4 (with the K5), you can see light through the gap where the turning wheel is, but not between the body and the grip.

Mind the (common) gap.
