Sticking Shutter on a 3 year old Pentax K1

Twice this week during multi-shot sequences, the view finder went black. The second time live view still worked but it was black through the view finder. The problem was corrected by turning the camera off and on

Question, is this something that could be corrected by a good camera cleaning or is the shutter on my 3 year old Pentax K1 dieing?

Any help would be appreciated

Chuck

Unless you shoot like a maniac, I don't see how you can get over the expected shutter life of K-1. I believe it's expected to work up to 250,000 actuations (might be more, I don't remember). I have mine for two years, and I'm at less than 30k.

Of course, it's only an estimate, and I guess can fail at any moment

300,000 shutter actuation's the K1 is rated for, from my memory.

Could it be due to a failing or under-charged battery?

If live-view is still working, wouldn't the more likely problem be the mirror sticking in the up position, which would also cause the viewfinder to be dark?

I think Adam has the most like solution with a battery which is failing.

I had something similar going on. Update to latest firmware. Keep fresh batteries, and use OEM lenses, it went a way. Could have also been some sort of dirt or moist in my camera, or something else. I had the blackframe syndrome, first frame of the day was black. Now nothing, all works well.
