Nailing portrait focus with the DFA* 50mm at f1.4

Nailing focus with the DFA* 50mm is ever so satisfying. If you zoom in super close you can see the individual handles on the adapter on the light stand.

This is an out of camera jpg, so the raw file will be a little sharper. This lens is marvelous, works great with the K1 autofocus as well.

The sharpness is really impressive. And it's not just dofmaster's copy

Another deep crop

On the left side of the image is out of focus. I suspect again Pentax AF failing to deliver. Are to switching to Nikon?

With f 1,4 the DOF is very narrow, in this case AF ios not guilty

Ah ok! , thanks a lot. I was going to switch to Nikon. I understand now, no need to switch brands.

It's a must have.... basically turns the k1 into a one-lens show

Very nice indeed! Do you have one of the 77mm babies? How would you compare the 2? Thanks!

No I don't have it unfortunately. Though the 77 is a f1.8... I am sure it's a sharp lens but there's no question that the focus mechanism on the new 50mm lens is much better than the old screw drives

Well, the first time I touched a K-1 (at a camera shop in Hong Kong in November), it had a D FA* 50 on it. I stuck a card in the camera and took four or five shots. For one of them I pointed the camera at my wife and snapped a quick shot while chatting with the salesman. I hadn't paid any attention to camera settings (except forcing F1.4), so basically zero effort went into this photo. When I got home I looked at the shots I had taken and a month later I bought a K-1 II. I don't have that lens yet, but I'm a believer.
