Battery in the K-1: how long does it last?

I shot 1200 photos yesterday with minimal use of live view and recharged 2 batteries last night. So 600+ images per battery (1 Pentax and 1 Wasahbi). Is that pretty typical for the K-1 on battery usage?

I haven't made a study of it, but that does seem about the same as what I have experienced. The battery life is generally long enough that I only have swap out or recharge batteries every few days,..I never leave the house without at least one spare. I will be out on Sunday for what should be several hours of near-continuous shooting, I will start the day with a fresh battery and see how long it lasts.

I use the back lcd a lot for shooting manually It probably last less than your average mirrorless for me.

1200 is quite normal for me with one pentax battery with my K-1, but I'm nearly not using the LCD and the camera goes to sleep after one minute.
My youngest is about 3 years, 3 others are more than 5 years no difference

I shoot most of the time in live view fine focusing old manual lenses and the battery life seems extremely great. I haven't ever did a count but I imagine I'm getting at least 300+ images per battery or almost 6 to 8 hrs when using live view most of the time. I shoot a little bit almost daily and a battery lasts a week or so. If I'm spending a full day shooting mostly in live view I do sometimes go through a full battery and need to put a fresh one in before the end of the day.
I am surprised at how long a battery will last in my K1 when shooting a lot in live view.....

That sounds about right. The K1 is a lot more power hungry than the smaller cameras that use the same battery.

I do not think there are a lot of cameras with this capacity on one battery. This camera is not power hungry. My k3 and k5 habe nearly the same numbers

My first shoot with a K7 was somewhere around 1500 exposures, I recall my K5 and K3 were lower, but still in the 1000 or so range. My K1 is much lower, 500-700 exposures.

Actually sounds better than what I get, but then again, I cannot resist admiring my pictures...so I review my images on the monitor a lot.

I have the 1s review set for events, but don't use GPS, WiFi, LV, or any of the other power hogs on the camera. 2nd day of shooting almost identical to the first with 1350 shots on 2 batteries (neither was depleted completely - one was last bar yellow, other was 2 yellow). Happy with the performance, but also happy I had a battery grip on the camera and 2 more batteries in the bag

I also don't use GPS, WiFi and rarely use LV and also have a battery grip with a spare, charged battery ready to go. Doing things this way I've never had any issues with being shut down due to no battery power. That happened once back when I used my K10D w/o a battery grip or a spare battery...learned my lesson and never again and got a grip, extra battery dor the K10D and K5...and K1.

I carry my Ricoh GR ll in a very small belt loop bag and have a spare, charged battery in the bag, along with the GR ll.

With my K1 the GPS is allways on, but I don't use WiFi and it is switched off. I rarely check pictures in the view mode. The camera goes to sleep after 1 Minute without action. I'm using the battery grip, setting the camera to use the grip first. I never use the mode where the camera decides which battery to use. Therefore I know when the first battery gets empty and I could easily exchange the battery in the grip. But normally I don't have to exchange the battery even on a three hour concert shooting with roundabout 1500 pictures using AFC-mode and Hi-speed picture rate with the Sigma 70-200 2.8.

I rarely let my batteries deplete completely before recharging. Several hundred shots is a good number, I probably change them between 400 and 600 shots before I think about recharging.
