Distributor seems to be undercutting Camera Warehouse by a fair margin, at least on the KP. I'm guessing this is part of the reason why we don't see Pentax in stores. If, for example, I'm faced with the choice of paying $1,539 vs $999 for a KP body, I'll take the $999 option every time. There are still plenty of people around who never shop online though.
C.R. Kennedy does have a spiel on their site about grey imports and pricing, asserting that their prices are competitive with International pricing (and grey imports) - by and large, I'd have to agree with this. I suspect that the consequence of this is that there is little margin for retailers to play with, so better to sell your Canon's and Sony's, with their quicker turnover and fatter margins.
I'm completely making all of this up with guesses of course (well...except for the pricing example).
