I use it all the time to: Check my battery, check ISO, check # of images taken/left, check if flash is on, check drive Mode, check shutter speed/aperture, check AF selection.

I personally love top lcds I'm happy pentax are keeping it on the new apsc camera.

It allows me to switch off my LV screen unless reviewing pictures, which imho is the only essential thing it's used for, once your camera is set up.

I hate having the LV screen on as it drains battery and produces unnecessary light to the eye when looking through the viewfinder.

I use both but like the LCD screen for all the info it can offer.

I occasionally take a quick look at the top LCD but I mainly rely on the back LCD or even the OVF for information.

I use both screens. Top screen is used for ISO since the custom wheel is set to adjust it.

For me on the KP the screen is normally for settings and histogram. Rarely do I check photos on it. I'm assuming it's the same on the K1.
