I Miss my K1 Mark II, But........

Last month I sent my K1 Mark II in for some warranty work before the two year warranty expires in the spring. I sure miss it especially when I shoot live music at a local jazz club. However, the good news is that I still have my trusty K3 mark II and I am beginning to appreciate it once again now that it has moved from being my backup camera to my main camera until the K1 returns home.

I've never had a K-1 II or K-3 II to miss. Just my K-3, though I sometime miss the K-5 that my dad has now. I should have a new 55-300 PLM by Thursday thanks to Adam

I love my K-3 and pine for the the advancements made in the K-3 II and K-1 (& II). Looking forward to the K-New to include said
advancements and then some.

When I sent in my K1 for the upgrade, there were a few weeks of consternation... but a K01 is about the same, right?

Hope you get the K-1 II back soon!

I felt the same for when I went over to Australia. Because I was traveling light I took my K-01 along with DA 15, 40 and 70. I love the K-1, but quite enjoyed using the K-01 - its small and light to carry, and does a great job with exposures.

The K-3 II is an excellent camera that gets a bit lost in the shuffle.

I can't find any reason to upgrade from my K-3. It does everything well, I'm not sure the K-new will even tempt me?

My K3-II is the best Pentax I've ever owned. It's superior to my old K-5 in every way except for body weight. I doubt that I'll ever get a K-1 as I don't need full frame and I don't want to pay even more for lenses. I do however appreciate the K-1 immensely because it allowed me to sell my FA-43 at above cost and allowed me to buy some used DA* lenses at ridiculously low prices.

I too survived a few months on K-3 II, and I got to appreciate it's lightness when running trails, so more yielding than K1 II, even with FF lenses! Now I need to get a really compact zoom for it, and ideally with a zoom extension stopper. Hm... maybe Sigma 18-200/3.5-5.6 Contemporary...?

It is always handy to have a backup camera. I do take both cameras with me when I travel. Last February I photographed Yukon Quest the international dog sled race and was able to capture some amazing images. I used both cameras and paired them with the FA 24-70 and my Sigma 70-200 lens. I frequently swapped lenses depending on the job at hand. Usually the longer lens was on the K3 and the shorter on the K1. That way I was able to capture a dog team coming towards me first with the 70-200, fill the buffer and then when the team was close to me switch to the K1 with the 24-70, fill the buffer and then as the team moved away, switch back to the K3 to complete the exercise. Worked perfectly. Here is a link to a sampling of a days photos Yukon Quest Day 4 | Flickr

Take deep breaths. DT's can be hard to get through. But you can do it. Your baby will be back soon.

Stay Strong.

Although I am worried when you said you sent it last month? Granted that was 4 days ago, how long will it be gone?
