Lav mic and shotgun mic for the K-1Mkii

I have been looking for recommendations for these two microphones types, and what others have used specifically on this camera. I can find recommendations for other cameras, but not the Mark ii. Does anyone here have recommendations and/or experience with these types of microphones on this camera?

I have an on-body shotgun mic. It picks up electronics noise, and noise of the auto-focus system, and the shutter etc...
You definitely want one with a really good shock-mount, and one that is shielded well, or to get some external unit for the microphones.

RODE is supposed to be good for such things.

I suggest you contact Sweetwater Sound, https://www.sweetwater.com/. I and some of my friends consider them to be the gold standard of customer service. They serve both audio professionals and you and me with really, really outstanding service. Their salespeople are highly trained and knowledgeable. I can't say enough good things about them. No, I'm not a former employee nor do I own any of their stock. I've just dealt with them for many years, and am always impressed. Just tell the salesperson what you are trying to do, and I'm sure they will be able to help.

Hi DougTank, I occasionally make video interviews with my K1ii using a Rode Wireless Go system - cheap, small and easy to set up. I'm no audio expert and my videos are only used online but I have zero complaints on the quality of the output - not sure of the quality if you are seeking perfection. it is excellent for my purposes. I also previously used a Rode VideoMic which also worked well.

Don't have experience with the K-1ii but any of this would do the job with excellent quality

I have experience with the RODE shot gun on my K-3:
Rode VideoMic Pro shotgun reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

For the price, the experience was great IMHO and the sound quality was good.

Generally, the previous posts listed further god quality brands like Sennheiser. Do your search to make sure that the product match your needs. In my case, the RODE shotgun matched my needs and constraints.

Hope that the comment may help.

Rode Videomics have a built-in pre-amp that essentially pipes a hotter signal to your camera. This allows you to turn the recording level of the camera down, minimizing the effect of the poor camera pre-amps on the audio quality.

If you choose to go for a standard shotgun microphone instead of a videomic (more versatile in case you have other uses for it), I would recommend the Sennheiser MKE600 over the Rode NTG2 - that the route that I went. It's a slightly 'louder' output signal than the rode (better for DSLR recording as mentioned above), and better quality sound as well. It's not as well known but better (kinda like Pentax!)
