I personally wouldn't consider anything but a K-P or a K-70 if I could get it at a great price.... the tech improvement since the K-70 is noticeable. The accelerator chips increases the number of possible shooting situations by a little more than stop. You're going to need it at some point. When it comes down to an actual reason why I will have the physical capacity to work successfully in less favourable conditions, to me in any case it always seems like a no brainer.

Why settle for 80% of a K-3? Get a K-3. There are some affordable(ish) ones around if you look around.

They should get even more affordable once the K-new is launched, if you are prepared to wait.

The easiest solution of all would be to use the K-1 more. It's bigger and heavier than the crop sensor bodies, but one must be prepared to suffer for one's art.

But the K-3 does not feature articulated screen like K-S2 and K-70, nor tilting screen like KP and K-1.

And the K-new may not feature one either.

All depends on which importance the articulated screen has for the OP.

I have K-1 and KP because they are such different cameras. If you shoot anything that moves you probably want a KP and a fast-focusing lens like the 55-300 PLM and sell the Limiteds. If you are only shooting static subjects keep your K-1, sell the DA lenses and buy the new 70-210/4

Oh I get it, for sure. I’m ridiculously fortunate that I don’t have to choose one or the other, but if Ricoh made a fast FF K-mount body I wouldn’t use APSc at all.

The oracle goat came to me as well.... it said.... with a crop camera... you need not walk as far up the hill.... I think it was an equivelance goat.

Thanks for the links I had forgotten about the KP and was going too cheap possibly :-)
I hadn't thought of the k3 line interesting I think the fixed LCD would feel like a step back with how I use it the K1 screen is fantastic
My 43 deserves to get more use I'm just wasting it but I will try it in crop for a while and see what I can make of it
the $k64 question was what am I photographing thank you !
nothing specific at the moment which is part of the problem I'll do a motorbike race I'll do an air show macros of flowers bird in the tree and product photography though mainly using the FA50 Macro on the k-01 for that
I definitely recommend the KP, you will love it.

KP needs 35mm macro ltd to shine. I would say that combination is one of the best ever during digital age of photography considering IQ, utility, cost and weight. Tilting screen and pixel-shift seal the deal.

Totally agree. It is a dream of a lens.

The original title of the OP caught my eye - especially the word “downsizing.”

If the purpose is to get something smaller and lighter, then the KP is an excellent choice. I bought mine for a specific trip but found myself grabbing it instead of the K1 when I was being a tourist. That would be/is my choice for downsizing. K-3 isn’t “downsizing” all that much.

Let’s not talk about the DFA 70-210 f4. That’s a lens I really, really want. It’s driving me crazy!
