Newbie with K1

I have only had a couple of days with my new to me K1. I sure do have a great deal to learn. Coming from Olympus mft, it seems I really have a steep learning curve with the K1. Although, that is one of the reasons I wanted to try a new camera. I had become compacent and creatively stagnant in mft. Hopefully learning this new camera will spark creativity.

Anyway, here are a few of my first images.

Welcome! Great to see you are giving some classic old lenses some room to breathe in their native format.

Once you get used to the K-1 I'm sure you'll love it.

With a very nice set of Takumars, nonetheless... very nice to see. I'm sure you'll do well!

nice

I would recommend you think about purchasing the ebook if you don't have it already

some great pics...plus question

Wow. Great captures to be sure.

Anyone know/think the K-1 mk II will be even lower-priced before Thanksgiving than the current $1796? I would hope so, but I haven't priced this model before for that time. I know usually the lenses end up quite a bit cheaper if one waits then.

This is the kind of image that I was never quite happy with on my Olympus. I see real potential here in what I would like to create:

You might find a good example as something like ex-display or one that someone's traded in, as long as you're happy not to have brand new.

It appears that the learning curve for you was very short and small. Some nice shots.

The K-1 has made me put all my other cameras on a shelf collecting dust. It is a real winner in my book.

I too enjoy the K1. Well designed and user friendly.

A quote from Kirk Tuck on his blog The Visual Science Lab / Kirk Tuck: Nostalgia for cameras past. There were some that were just so much fun to use. There are better ones (technical measure) that just suck the fun out of photography...

"One of my recent camera purchases that I think I most regret getting rid of, from a handling point of view, was the Pentax K1. It was the most confidence inspiring body design I think I've handled since the days of the Nikon D700."

I agree whole heartedly having had a Nikon D700 as a studio camera, but the K1 trumps it.
