K-70 (not) Discontinued

Just came from the Ricoh USA sight and it said the K-70 is discontinued. Does that mean a new model is on the horizon or are they cutting back on the number of models they are going to carry, which at this point is pretty small.

Probably a temporary glitch by the Pentax USA Web store. Still for sale by Pentax Japan and Pentax USA

It's just the formatting of the site. The K-70 is right above Discontinued...which is actually for the 3 cameras underneath it. K-1/K-1 Silver/K-3 II

A horizontal line between the Current lineup and Discontinued lineup would clear up the confusion...

The K-70 is not improvable without making to KP less attractive. I wouldn't expect any new model until there is a K-3 II sucessor or a KP II

The K1 is still available in Australia. Both K1 and K1ii on backorder.

Nope, still showing as a current model.

Ditto for Japan, though officially discontinued in N. America. I guess that means the Ricoh Imaging, N. America has resolved to not import the K-1 regardless of availability.

The K-70 is three years old so I would expect it to be discontinued any time, and lately Pentax don't replace models until after the preceding model in that line has been discontinued for some time. I'd say that's a risky strategy for the more entry-level models.

Ditto for the 645Z...dead camera clicking...Pentax is DOOMEDTM

Of course, any rumor of either model's departure is baseless at present, despite the title of this thread.

Steve
I've edited that title as I think the notion is thoroughly debunked.

Ha! Ha!

I am surprised that PentaxRumors did not pick this up and that it was not echo'ed back on the rumors thread here within the hour.
