My new K-70 just arrived, some questions

My K-50 has got the aperture block problem so I ordered a K-70 kit from Adorama. When went to set the date I noticed the date that was in there was 2016 and the firmware version was 1.00. The serial number is 8085021. Is there any I can match this up with the build date? Other than that I’m enjoying the quietness of the whole package the Da 18-135 especially.

Yes,
take a picture and upload it to the forum exif "checker", it will tell you the shutter clicks and the build date of the camera.

You can also use exiftool with the -manufacturedate tag to get this information.

ExifTool by Phil Harvey

A very useful tool.

The 2016 date doesn't mean that is when the camera was built. Pentax isn't going to keep changing the firmware every year to change when the info starts.

You should update to firmware version V1.12: Latest PENTAX K-70 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING
Read CAREFULLY the instructions before proceeding! And follow to the letter.

You can't get much newer than 6-weeks from manufacture. Enjoy your new camera.
