My son has a K70 that is just under 2 years old. Recently, the LCD display screen has stopped working. Initially, he suspected problems with the shutter release button, but that appears to be functioning. I have had the camera examined by a repair technician (who appears to specialise in mechanical rather than electronic cameras), and he concluded that the LCD screen had failed rather than it being a simple connection problem. He also suggested that the cost of replacement would not be worthwhile. The viewfinder display still works and the camera can still take pictures, but full use of the menu requires the screen. We take mostly wildlife photographs.
However, what I cannot understand is that the screen does come on when the camera is switched to the video mode: surely this would not operate if there was total screen failure?
I think it is just that the display was accidently switched off!
It has to come on in video-mode because of the nature of video, similar to LiveView

If the display would be faulty, it wouldn't come on in video-mode.
One recommendation is to leave the camera with battery out for 24h and then switch on again.
Could be that this will "reset it".
Otherwise:
A reset but with PK-Tether or PK-Triggercord
pkTriggerCord
can help, as well, if you don't manage with the 24h method.
Warranty: In the EU, so Ireland as well, you have always by law 2 years of warranty:

Even if Ricoh in Ireland or UK would just give 1 year warranty, it is 2 years!
You can take a laywer for that and you'l get the laywer paid!
