I Got 3 Years warranty, and also drops and spills through New Leaf. Think I'm covered pretty good. Its a major issue to me because I had BOTH my K30's fail.....one at like 50K and the other about 7K both out of warranty.....nether was repaired through Precision.
DAMN........I Keep Calling it the K7......sorry.

I could live with that. I guess I truly am a low volume photographer. I had two Canon Rebels die in an eight year period, with a total count of under 5K. I take maybe 500 pictures a year, and I hardly ever use burst mode.

no composition adjustment on K-70 ??

In your case I would recommend the K-70, since it essentially today's version of the K-x.

Alternatively, you could look at the K-S2 as it's basically a K-70 without the 24 megapixel sensor (20Mp instead) and hybrid video AF. In almost all other key aspects, the two are identical. This could allow you to invest the difference in price toward a prime lens or two. Also, the K-70 won't be available until August, if that's a factor.

Since features like the articulating screen and Wi-Fi seem to be important to you, I'd stick to those two models.

That said, the K-3 has the following advantages, as a higher "flagship" model:
  • All-metal construction (vs plastic on the outside)
  • More durable shutter (up to 200k actuations)
  • Quieter shutter
  • Silent DR II dust removal (vs. audible DR)
  • Wireless flash control, composition adjustment
  • Higher burst framerate (8.3 FPS) and larger buffer
  • More external buttons, certain functions easier to access
Just something to keep in mind.

In terms of image quality, the K-3 and K-70 are going to be virtually identical, whereas the K-S2 is at a slight disadvantage due to the lower resolution and 12-bit RAW. All 3 are a considerable upgrade over the K-x, however.

Most likely, yes. But I'm sure they fixed the issue that caused so many failures.

Let's not jump to conclusions until they actually release the updates. Perhaps support for the K-3 will be included!

In any case, it's not that big of a deal because video-optimized lenses really only make sense on video-optimized bodies. Future lenses will almost certainly stick to KAF3 unless they're designed for video.
You're saying the K-70 wont have composition adjustment, but the K-50 had it. You're sure K-70 wont be having it??

According to the manual and all published specs, the K-70 doesn't have it. It's a feature reserved for flagship models, similar to wireless flash control.

Looking at all the comments above, I think it will be better choice to get K-70, if only the Image Quality is at least the same as K-3.

One thing that is still on my mind, is the AF speed. Is the AF in K-3/K-3 II a lot faster and better than the one in K-70 (I guess K-70 is same module as in K-S2)? It might make a huge difference when taking photos of wildlife and children or am I wrong?

Personally I would go for better focus all day long, don't need all that many points, speed and precision... A better flash would be a welcome addition has well, K70 brings none of those things

Why are you so certain that AF has not improved in speed and/or precision??
{I believe that is the primary purpose for the new 55-300mm lens}

The purpose of the changes to the af system and the 55-300, by what I know are just for LV, or trough sensor, which I don't care, the Af system remains the same old 11 sensors 9 cross type, has far has I know
