That looks nice, Danny Great shot too, by the way!

What post-processing are you doing? I assume this is from RAW, then a bit of colour noise reduction. Any luminance NR, or just the colour, and what software?

How would this differ from taking JPEG SOOC?

Like it!

A good advert for the K70's JPEG quality as well as the camera's sensor. Incidentally, what lens did you use and was any serious cropping used? I would like it to be the 18-135 zoom at 135 (which with a K3 is my current DSLR walk round kit) with a 50% crop.

It's better than you thought, Danny - the EXIF data shows it to be ISO 32000!

How do those challenges in your signature work?
Each has many more members than it has postings per month;
does each member participate in just some months?

Yes, there is no obligation to participate even if you're a member of the group, but only members can post in the Challenge threads. The Singles challenge has been around for longer and has a bigger "core" group participating (almost) every month. The Daily challenge was started up this year and was founded to give the members a place to post every day but without the restrictions of the Singles game.

The idea is just to have fun while hopefully learning something and pushing your boundaries. I find that I learn quite a lot from commenting on the other entries; formulating something meaningful about an image forces me to study all the elements of it and to think through what works and what not.

You can find the "rules" of the games in the discussion threads (which are separate from the posting threads):
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/26-mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/32...st-2016-a.html
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/26-mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/32...st-2016-a.html

You'll see that the Singles group is a more established community with more smalltalk. The Dailies is, so far, a looser grouping. There are also a few that participate in both at once, or jump back and forth between the challenges.

Some members also add additional elements to the challenge, like setting a theme for the month, or (as I do this month) only use in-camera editing of the images, or cycle through all you lenses in a single month etc.

The Daily challenge is the low-threshold one, while the Singles is super for really learning the ins and outs of a particular lens.

A side-effect I have noted is that I have gotten a couple of "Explores" on Flickr each month I have participated - and none in the months I have not. Not important, but it adds to the fun, I think.
