Video focus test on Youtube

Found this link showing the autofocus feature on the K70
The user feels that there is an improvement over the previous models.

Yup, the video AF is definitely better (but still pretty archaic by modern standards). More details can be found here:

Panasonic dmc-g7 is $697 w/14-42 kit lens so very close. The gx85 is around $797 with a 12-32 vs $896 for the k70 with 18-135. I realize the two lenses aren't the same in price but that places them quite close in price effectively.

Samsung NX1? Nobody wants an unsupported camera with issues.

Not a crop camera. You aren't going to get the same quality stills from a G7 as a K50, not to mention worse lens selections. So lets be realistic, what crop camera is available at that price range that has 4k?

Lets not forget about all the other features Pentax includes that other camera makers aren't like IBIS, Astrotracing and even functions like MFA that you don't get until you step up to higher end crops on Nikon / Canon.

There's also a lot of us who couldn't care less about video.

K70 isn't available from the Oz distributor but he lists body price at the equivalent of $718 U$, theres usually better deals though.

Pano G7 with 14-42 U$ 582....GX85 U$ 661...with the 25mm f1.7 U$699....with the 25mm and 12-32 US768...all at todays exchange rate

Samsung NX 500 US 303 body only( last one at a B&M nearby to me)

You're on a Pentax forum, who's in the wrong place? If you want video, pick a camera that does video. These are additional features, not focus features. The cameras you list wont compare in stills. Again like I said, tell me what crop cameras there are in this price range? Excluding cameras that are not supported (samsung).

That leaves you with an a6300 and Xt-2, both being more expensive.

Your statement "Ricoh is providing this, everybody else is moving to(or is already providing)4K." is completely illogical and no where near truthful.

Well, I was commenting on a VIDEO thread. This threads about a YouTube on the K70 VIDEO!...considering I have 6 pentax bodies that do video(not that they do it well)...I'm experienced enough to comment!

Still images and moving images are different,my phone does video better than MY pentax STILL cameras.

Samsung "not" supported?...Mine are!

You're still ignoring the fact that what you said was WAY off base. And again, those Samsung cameras are more expensive and probably less desirable for most, especially considering Samsung dropped them.

I'm sorry but this thread isn't about why the k70 is worse or better overall, it is about video specifically, and your comment invited comparisons based on price without other criteria. Furthermore, I have owned the Panasonic gx7 ( not the g7) and while it doesn't support 4k video, it does use the same basic sensor as the g7, and the g7 is typically said to perform at least as well as the gx7. I have owned a k50 also, and currently own a pair of k3's.
The gx7 isn't blown away by the k50, far from it. Both cameras make excellent photos. Also lens selection in m43 is an embarrassment of riches, with many fine primes and several excellent zooms by multiple manufacturers.
I shoot Pentax, I like Pentax, but I'm not blinded by brand loyalty into thinking that nothing else compares. I'm also not blinded by sensor size. The k70 is remarkable, I'm impressed. Pixel shift is something the cameras mentioned don't compete with. But video isn't a Pentax strength yet...
