A violet is opening up in my house (still very much winter outside this far north)...

Picture used pixel shift which works well even with the very long exposure needed for shooting in a fairly dark space at high FL...

f16 .6sec (x4), ISO 100, Pentax 100mm WR, used remote shutter control, xposted to DF-A WR photos

Looks like that is a really good combo, well done. I've been thinking about getting the new 55-300 PLM ever since I got my K-70 just before Christmas last year. I already have the old DA 55-300 (non WR version) that I picked up on the marketplace here a couple of years ago but it would be nice to have the new features and an extra WR lens is always good. I may pick one up in a couple of months when I should have some spare cash available.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I also have the original lens, but the PLM version has a lot more to give, and probably better IQ, as well. I have a DA*300 which is awesome, of course, but I can't just carry that around all the time- too big, heavy, and precious.

Beautiful pictures, the K70 is incredible capable indeed.
A few of my first pictures with al little bit of editing in lightroom.
The last one is made with the 18-135mm, the other were made with de 50mm f/1.8
I'm not happy yet, so I'll keep making photos! :-)

Iso 800 - iso 6400

Thx John!

Here are 2 more with that lens first the squirrel cuckoo was ISO 800 just a little crop, second the rufous motmot was late afternoon , cloudy under tree cover (realy dark almost hard to see) almost 50% crop at ISO 6400 (this is more for illustration of the ISO - limits)

Now I also have the DA*300 it is optically with no doubt better, but much slower focusing and yes much heavier to carry around, so lately it stays home much more. Both images would have come out probably sharper and with better contrast with that lens but I would miss many shots cause of slow focusing as mi DA*300 is not in the best shape and the new PENTAX-DA 55-300mm PLM is really fast focusing, also I almost always use single center point focusing.

My K-70 is spending most of the time glued to the Tammy 70-200/2.8 taking pictures to ships these days, waiting for the next trip.

Here is one pic of an approaching cruise ship (Regent's Seven Seas Explorer, for those who may be interested in) shortly after sunrise, when the moon says "Hi!" to her brighter Brother.

This was taken at a local conservation area. I had visited a few days ago looking for bluebirds but all I saw were swallows. This day I found a bluebird that seemed interested in a particular nesting box so I set up my tripod with remote shutter release focused on the box and was lucky enough to get a shot of both the male and female. I didn't want to get any closer for fear of spooking them. I could have zoomed in closer but wanted to show the whole nesting box. Pentax 55-300 lens, 1/1000 f/6.3 ISO 800.

K-70 on a sunny evening

There was a lovely sunny ending to Monday so I went down to the Lough shore at Holywood (Co. Down Northern Ireland) to see what i could get. Lens is the DA 16-85 f3.5-5.6. I bracketed three exposures and HDR'd them in Affinity Photo.
