By your own statistics it would seem that you still have at least another 7 years of use! By that time, hopefully Pentax will have released an even better equivalent model. However, if your K-70 succumbs to your harsh usage conditions in a shorter term, perhaps you should replace it with a new K-70. Incidentally, if you have not yet done so, you might shield it from vibrations by lining the tank bag with some thick foam plastic.

P.S. A good set of good images.
calculations are correct but I had a slow year for this camera due to switching to Pentax and a learning curve, and I was carrying multiple cameras, now this is my main one, I do average around 100.000+ shots a year so if it lasts until 2020 I'd be surprised.

The camera is well insulated BTW.

If you treat the camera like any other piece of mechanical equipment you own, like your bike, by getting it checked, cleaned and serviced regularly. (6 - 9 months) You should get, from what I experienced so far with my K70, the life expectancy you are looking for out of it.

Do any members here really do this with a non-professional level camera? I do treat my gear carefully but all I have ever done is an occasional d.i.y. sensor clean, as needed.

My camera store does free cleanings if you buy the insurance package. I had to do several in a couple of months once when some dust got into my K-50. My K-70 has not needed any cleanings yet.

A close up look of wayward bouy for a lobster trap abandoned on the beach
When it comes to framing shots like this, the value of Live View with the articulated screen on the K70 shows its value

Two great shots. 2nd one makes me homesick for northwest Wyoming. But isn't it a shame we're using the lowly, entry level K-70?
