It's a very informative review too!

It makes me even more tempted to get one to replace my K-30, possibly around Black Friday.

I don't know if there is a shortage of K-70s currently but Henry's here in Canada are constantly showing the K-70 as a special order item. Is it because Henry's are not stocking them (which would be odd as they usually stock Pentax cameras and have others in their online store) or because they are hard to get?

Pentax still sucks at videos. It doesn't really affect me, since I don't shoot video, but I can understand why a lot of Pentax shooters that would like better video options get frustrated & want to bounce to other manufacturers at times. Outside of that, the K-70 looks like a great camera.

25+ years ago I used to teach video making classes at a college in the UK (back in the days of video tapes) and I've never understood the need to force a DSLR to shoot both stills and video. If you want to shoot video buy a video camera, it is after all what they are designed for!

^ Pretty much feel the same way. Even if my DSLR had 4K video, I probably still wouldn't use it.

A very good review that makes a compelling case for the K-70! I think the comparative features list ("Versus Other Bodies") is missing a few things. Most are mentioned in the text, but the new bulb timer and the lack of composition adjustment are currently missing from the review, as far as I can tell.

E.G.: Vrs K-3 II:
(+) Bulb Timer
(+) Onboard flash
(-) Louder shutter with lower durability rating
(-) No Composition Adjustment
(-) No top LCD
(-) GPS/Astrotracer not bundled

Good point, Doundonba. The list was getting a little long, so I had to pick and choose a bit.

Right. I do think the bulb timer ought to be mentioned (and described) somewhere in the review. This is a new feature that should be very convenient for people who shoot long exposure. You no longer need to have some external timer with you and end the exposure manually, up to (I think) 20 minute exposures!

Imaging Resource added a field test:
Pentax K-70 Review: Initial Test - Field Test

the major bummers are the wifi connectivity that is still a cumbersome pita and slow af in video mode despite pdaf. Ricoh really needs to get some software guys to improve those things.
For the rest it is positive.

I'd agree with those conclusions. Ricoh still has work to do but this is a great camera for those who care less about LV AF and wifi connectivity.
