A question about “Exposure simulation” live view.

Does the K-70 have “Exposure simulation” live view?
Also if it does have it, can it be turned off?

It’s nice most of the time, but not all the time (like using a fast shutter speed in the dark with a flash).

What I mean by “Exposure simulation” is the live view image looks “exactly” like the final image will be.

I'd just go check one out at a store, but since I’ve never actually been able to see a pentax in person, I have to ask.

You only get actual exposure simulation in M mode, and even then it has a limited operating EV range. It can be disabled by switching to TAv and selecting a narrow aperture range, which is a hack but it works.

In all other modes the camera attempts to maintain a well-lit live view image.

This is by far the worst feature of the new cameras. The K-5IIs never did this, even in manual mode. I shoot most of my stuff with flash, often in dark rooms, and I can't see anything at all unless I hit the "AF" button. It's impossible to see what's going on.

The hack will work in some circumstances but not others for me, such as when I'm extending the camera at an arm's length, as I can barely reach the buttons, let alone the dials.

Is this like a standard for exposure simulation implementation among all cameras these days, or just a deficiency of Pentax?

A bit of a deficiency perhaps. Hopefully it's something they will continue to address.
