Request that Pentax consider K-70 as well as the KP/K-1 for SR hardware in video

As per the recent CP+ 2017 article, the KP and K-1 are looking at a future update to bring SR (not the software version) to video with a future firmware upgrade. Like the KAF4 came to a number of earlier models, here's hoping that the same is done for the K-70.

You can hope for it but I bet it's a SR II thing only. So far only the K-1 and KP have Shake Reduction II.

The PENTAX K-70 features the PENTAX-original, in-body SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism with a compensation effect of 4.5 shutter steps

The PENTAX-original sensor-shift-type shake reduction mechanism has been upgraded to provide optimum compensation for all lenses used in handheld shooting. The new-generation SR II (Shake Reduction II) features a five-axis mechanism to compensate for camera shake caused by horizontal and vertical shift** (often generated in macro photography) and camera shake caused by roll, which is difficult to handle by lens-installed shake reduction mechanisms, in addition to more common camera shake caused by pitch and yaw.
Features3 | PENTAX KP | RICOH IMAGING

The PENTAX KP comes equipped with the innovative sensor-shift-type SR II (Shake Reduction II), which assures optimum compensation effect for all lenses

Though earlier cameras (like the K-5) had hardware video SR, and that was not SR II.

And apparently had technical issues which is why it was withdrawn until SR II came along. The K-5 was a Hoya effort. What the Hoya teams and management found acceptable may not be acceptable to Ricoh.

And I doubt they will try to retro engineering a set of control algorithms developed for five axis SR back into older 3 axis SR. The vector maths would be substantially different.

Wrong request, continuous mechanical SR in video is noisy and empty battery in no time.

Of course the right answer is a good carbon fiber stabilizer like the s60t. Would be interested in a comparison once the KP video SR is released.

See Adam's response on the matter from another thread. Note: This does not preclude said updates being incorporated into the K-70 but does give the factors that should be taken into consideration:

If they cant add SR there are other flaws that could perhaps be fixed with software updates, such as lack of focus peaking while recording (!!!) and no possibility to change focus with focus points while recording as well (!!!)
