My new favorite K-70 lens

.
Today I tested out about a dozen lenses of various focals and by different manufacturers on my new K-70 camera.

One lens stood out from the others in terms of color, bokeh, and sharpness.

My new favorite K-70 lens is the classic, highly regarded, old, cheap, Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 Ai lens. I used a Leitax adapter to make mine into a K mount.

Below is a 100% blow up from one of my test images. It's just an out of camera jpg without any photoshopping.

I love this lens too. The focus throw is perfect and it has great bokeh and pleasing yet cool color.

It's been said before, as sensors get better good glass keeps up. I should get the adapter for my k70 to put on my nikon epiphot at work. amazingly great microscope.
what k mount is closest to the 105 nikkor? is the 105 2.8 super tak equal? (aside from mechanics like focus ring)

I think the tak bokeh doesnt compare. Nikon 2.5/105 AiS vs S-M-C Takumar 2.8/105 - Fast Test @2.8

It's very nice indeed.
As far as bokeh is concerned, one is smoother, the other is livelier.
More variety, more artistic choices

Forget trying to fit a Pentax lens mount onto a Nikkor lens. Most of the time it will not work - might even damage the 3 threads in the lens.

Just spend the $95 and buy a Leitax mount. It works great on this Nikkor lens, is easy to install, and the Leitax mount is actually better quality than the original Nikkor lens mount.

What's the difference, if any, between this Leitax mount you're talking about and the Pentax Multi-mount by the Adaptist?

The multi mount is on the camera. The leitax on the lens.

I modded my nikkor. Reversible. The leitax costs more than the lens. I probably wouldn't do it again but it was about learning for me.

Curious about how this lens stacks up vs. the M 85 f2. I know the focal length isn't the same.

How about a comparison with a DFA 100 macro?
Or Tamron 90 macro?

I owned theSMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR for a few years. It is a very nice lens with amazing sharpness. This Pentax macro lens is a TINY TINY bit sharper than the Nikkor. But that's where the Pentaxs' dominance ends, because with every other lens lens attribute, the Nikkor lens wins. I'd classify the Nikkor as having more of an "artistic" rendering; while the Pentax Macro lens has more of a "technical" rendering.

One of the lenses in my shootout yesterday was the famous "Bokina" lens. The Nikkor was better in every way than the Bokina, to my surprise, the Nikkor was even a bit sharper than Bokina. In fact, I soon plan to list my like-new Bokina (with close up attachment) for sale here on the PFs.

Can't comment as I've never used the M 85mm f/2 lens.
