I have the K200D and I love it. In good light the K200D loses on some ways (think AF) and in good light colors look great. My K3 and my KS2 will blow it away in low light. AF was the biggest challenge in low light for the K200D. I used to get so frustrated with the AF performance.

Notice the sharpness difference between these 2 photos. The K200D used the DA* 50-135mm and the K3 used the DA 55-300mm WR.

The K-30/K-50 is an amazing camera, and would be miles above the k200d in most ways, but the aperture control block issue is certainly something to consider if shopping used.

I was still loving my old K-30 up until about a year ago when it started suffering from the issue. Now if I haven't used it for a while, I will have to fire off several black or nearly-black shots before it works normally. The death of my K-30 is kind of what gave me my last push to transition completely to mirrorless.

In fairness to my K-30 though, the shutter count was probably somewhere around 60,000 when it started acting up. Hard to complain about that kind of longevity from a camera that competed in the budget DSLR segment. My K-30's crystal-white finish, BTW, still looks almost like new and has held up marvelously. I was sad when they went away from the glossy/metallic finishes and lost some of the sharp and aggressive edges for the K-50 refresh.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I've always disliked the look of using the flash - perhaps the problem is due to using the built-in flash?

And I just found a K50 body on ebay for $200...I'm tempted because the K70 is $500 more!
External flash is totally different than the on board flash.
The jump to a K-70 will be beyond massive from the K200D.
I went K200D to K-30 to K-3 and each time was a big leap and I've never looked back.

Hi Amanda,

I upgraded from the K200 to the K70 in July last year.

Both are excellent cameras, but the K70 is a big step up in low light performance. I'm able to safely run at ISO 6400 with no need for corrections.
Able to do fine focus tuning for all my lenses on the K70
Auto focus is quicker especially in low light situations
More flexible rear LCD screen for those hard to get at shots
Live view, horizontal and vertical guides for shooting

Better bracketing, the list goes on and on.

Colour rendition is as good as the K200 and you won't be disappointed with it,

Only Con - you may miss the ability to use AA batteries.

I love both of my cameras and will not retire my K200, but the K70 is my first to grab now.

Greg
