First play with DA Fish-Eye 10-17mm

I have never had a wide angle in my collection but I decided to splash out on the Pentax DA 10-17mm and then went out today for a first try.

Very pleased with the initial results and cannot believe I have not "gone wide" in the past.

Nice photos. You got it; go low and go close for the fisheyes. I have both the 10-17 and the 17-28. Both are nice but the 10-17 is much closer focusing.

In 2008, not long after I'd bought my K-10d, I decided to get the DA 10-17 lens as I was very interested in fisheye and UWA stuff, never having had the ability to experiment with it before. I have to say, 11 years later, I still remember how much it changed my vision and photography. You quickly see more than the eye can perceive. Enjoy this jewel. I have long since acquired many other UWA and fisheye lenses, but this one, changed my vision. Enjoy.

An inexpensive, great-performing little fun lens. Have loved mine ever since I got it in 2016. And seeing your first images I have little doubt that you will enjoy your acquisition.

The 10-17 is a great lens to have! Although, at first, it's fun to play with the fisheye effect at its widest end, the lens really shines when we start exploring the possibility of zooming in and out to control the effect. And 17mm, the lens can practically be used as as rectilinear in many situations... Making it a very versatile lens. Have fun!

I love my 10-17. I like doing indoor shots with it like in churches or sports arenas. Photoshop does a good job removing the distortion on indoor architectural shots.

Definitely a great lens to have in your kit. It's also full frame at 17mm.
