Solar panels are slow to recharge batteries, unless the panel is large, usually much larger than a USB power bank or a pack of D-LI90 or NiMH AA batteries. And solar recharging is unpractical for cameras, because solar charging works during the day when you need to use the camera or are on the move, whereas battery can be recharged during the night when sleeping. If I sleep at an hotel, I recharge batteries during the night when sleeping. If I'm off-grid, I recharge camera batteries in the car while driving, cars now have usb plugs, if not it's always possible to use an adapter to the 12V cigar plug.
Folding panels take almost no space at all, and the best way to use them is to charge a USB battery during the day then use the battery to recharge your camera at night. It takes my 6 watt 12 volt charger about 4 hours to recharge 4 AAs in direct sun. But unfortunately, I no longer have a camera operated by AAs.

This is what I want, I Just can't find one.

With the K-1 and KP you can dedicate the third wheel to either ISO or Exposure Compensation - my Hope is that K-70 replacement will get that also.
I've just bought my K70 so it will be at least 5 years or until it breaks before I can even contemplate another camera

Working in Tv Mode or Av Mode (requiring only one click of the mode dial to change between them), control of the ISO can be assigned to either the front or rear dial.

I know that and that's how I have them set up. It's working in manual mode that is frustrating.

My 28 000 mAh USB power bank weight 300 gr , size 8 x 12.5 cm. Solar panel weights 640gr, size 23 x 14 cm. The power bank costs about 30 euros, that's less than half the price of an original Pentax D-LI90 battery. I'd have to bring the USB power bank anyway to recharge the phone. But the problem remains that the Pentax charger doesn't feature a USB input. How hard would that be for Ricoh to add a USB option to a D-LI90 charger? (I'm pretty sure the USB power conversion chip already exists in some other applications).

For several years I've been making use of a Micro USB Charger for D-Li109 from vhbw-tec in Germany (via eBay, 7 GBP) - very small and light. (I also have another one for charging the D-Li90.)

Yes, there is something similar that can be purchased in Europe.

As post #34 seems to be invisible, here's an example:

How would I improve the K-70 (and all Pentax cameras)

I would like to see a menu option that could be set to a programmable button maybe via a firmware update that would allow me to add the aperture setting for each photo when using either manual Pentax-M lenses or M42 lenses. Similar to the manual focal length setting. I can never remember what aperture setting I used for a particular photograph when I use older lenses.

I was intrigued by the title. I have not found an answer, for me it is really perfect like this.

Fully electronic shutter mode. 1 minute time-lapse at 24fps = 1440 shots = 1/70th of the often rumored mechanical shutter life of 100K; I don't think this needs to be reserved as a "pro" feature since time-lapse and multiple exposure are clearly sales-points of K-70 class bodies as well. Third wheel, best AF speeds, longer battery life and professional accessories can be reserved.

Not a lot got mine on Special for about $600 USD. But a Battery Grip option would have been nice as well as a decent battery Charger.
I Have purchased 2 Aftermarket Batteries and a high speed charger that is Mains USB and 12 Volt Dual slot charger.

I wish you could use one of the Fx buttons to switch metering from Center Weighted to Spot, and back.

If you're not using the "User" modes for anything else, you can set up adjacent modes in one or other configuration and switch between them whilst keeping the camera to the eye

I used my K-70 like this for combinations of spot and multi a/f settings combined with AFS and/or AFC. Having to remove the camera from my eye to do the "two-finger shuffle" on the mode dial on my KP is a "feature" I don't consider helpful

Yes, I know the KP has an "AF Mode" button on the lens throat ... unfortunately even my large male hands can't reach it when I'm hand-holding a 150-500mm without taking the camera down

The K-70 would be great, if it had the ergonomics of the K-3 and a shoulder LCD. But wait, that would be an K-3 with the sensor of the K-70? There will be one soon I guess.

As has been said, the K-70 is the current entry level camera of pentax. And please be aware, that it has features the competition only builds into its mid-range cameras.
The only improvement I would like to have for the K-70 as an entry level camera is native USB tethering.
OK, I admit it, more focusing points would be great, as well.

Two things which would make live easier:

2. Solenoid on same level as the white Japan solenoid.
Then the worlds best camera in this price range if not needed for sports and other fast moving subjects
and... which does never worry me.. no need for great video.

3. Backup battery instead that cheap tiny MS414 on the motherboard but as it was so well done with Pentax's first
DLSR, the original *ist D: and how we knew it with many SLR cameras
