I have had the D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR for about two years now, and i am very pleased with it on my K-70. I’ve never tried any of the other macroes, but here you can see what most of these are capable of: Macro Photograpy

I picked up a second hand SMC 100mm M Macro f/4 on eBay in mint condition. I find the colour rendition to be better than modern lenses. It's super sharp and has great bokeh. The focus ring is very smooth and progressive. There are plenty of them out there, so take your time when choosing one. I got mine for just 78 Euros + shipping from a camera shop in South Korea.

I love my sigma 105 2.8, and have been using it a lot recently for portrait photography as well. Highly recommend it.

I have both the DFA 100mm macro and SMC 35mm Ltd Macro for my K70 and both are excellent. If I had to choose one, I'd say the 35mm Ltd Macro, as there is just something magical about that lens. It has the pixie dust thing going on.

I recently purchased the 35/2.8 DA limited for it's overall optical quality, but I would have gotten the 100mm WR if I didn't already have the 100 and 50 Pentax-M. Allot depends on what you're shooting and how close you want (or can) get to the subject. Also what kind of perspective you're looking for.

I had the Kiron 105 and sold it and replaced it with the 35 Ltd. For the kind of shooting I do (usually handheld and mobile) I just got much sharper pictures by reducing the effect of camera shake with the shorter focal length. If you have other priorities though, the 35 might not be the best choice for you.

I agree with this, and for my K-70 I have a Sigma Ex DG 105mm (1:1) and the two Tamron Adaptall 2 90mm (52B and 52BB, both 1:2). All are great to use, giving fantastically sharp images, the best is probably the Sigma. The Tamrons are accompanied by an extension tube and a converter, either of which give me 1:1.

Surely that is enough, but I also have the Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 55-300mm which has a very good quality almost-macro (1:1.55) and a Sigma EX 50mm (1:1).

I do not necessarily rely on AF, so the older Adaptalls are very reliable.
One more on the way DFA 50mm/f2.8. I couldn't resist a small light macro with a 49mm thread (same as all my Limiteds). I have been using the Sigma 50mm with a 55-49 stepdown ring, but Sigma is much heavier and bulkier than the DFA.

Of course on that logic, I should get the current Pentax 100mm WR, but its so close to three others with same focal length that are all really great.

I know it's not inexpensive but the relatively new HD FA50 1.4 performs admirably on a crop camera like the K-70
