I have written to CRK, respectfully asking about the low stock and delays. Let's see if they reply.

Update 3 Dec: no reply.

Like you, I've been frustrated in the past with delays for goods or repair service. As others have said, the K-70 and 18-135mm lens is a good kit; once you have it in hand, I think you would be happy with it. The slow delivery is unfortunate, as are the frequent changes in availability date.

Jumping to another brand is certainly one way to gain faster access to a camera kit, and there are plenty of good systems. From what I've read, however, no brand -- including Pentax -- is without weaknesses or frustrations. Variably across the brands, cameras are out of stock owing to high demand; failures occur; image quality may be inferior; good lenses are expensive; firmware updates can contain glitches; etc. One's patience can be tested in any of the brands.

I hope you find an agreeable solution after waiting three months!

- Craig

With all of the events around the virus the supply chain and delivery channels are a mess.

The only thing I would suggest is if you want it fast only order from a dealer that has it in stock. Might cost more in the end but it is an option.

I have always had pretty quick service from CR, perhaps cancel that and reorder with the current black Friday 15% off deal?

Hi Dave

The OP is dealing with the main importer for Aus who supplies the retailers.
We are a small market and numbers of units too us are low, overseas would be of preference before us.
Tracking a K 70 would be a lottery and lots of phone calls nationally even if available .. somewhere
We just have to bide our time and wait.

Hi Gary

Sounds good but there are none in the country so the wait stays the same.

Back in the early 1970s I waited a year or so for a part to come from Japan to the US West Coast. A while back it took 8-10 months for some photo gear to get from Singapore to the West Coast. I had purchased some gear from the same vendor previously and it only took about two weeks. Fell into a black hole in tracking and I had pushed it out of my mind. Just when I recalled that I hadn't received the item and was about to contact the vendor I got notice the package was ready for pickup.

Yeah, unfortunately no stock Australia wide all subject to the supplier..
I love the pentax platform as mentioned and as with everything a warranty is a huge selling point for me..
Just not sure why the extensive delay (not crk's fault and Iknow that). Extremely frustrating when you have the car and no motor to go for a drive.
Guess I'm at the mercy of the supplier..
C'mon Ricoh make it happen, please.

Have you seen this?

Australia: k70 + Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC Lens & Acc. Bundle - PentaxForums.com

Granted it is not the lens you want but if they have the K-70 in stock (shopping bag/cart doesn't say if in or out of stock) might be the way to go.

Edit: Warranty coverage may be a problem if the vendor isn't an authorized Ricoh/Pentax seller.

Whenever possible, I try order items that are in stock. When that has been the case, delivery from CR Kennedy has been reliably and impressively quick.

I have been ordering things from manufacturers directly in the UK,Germany,US and Japan and it seems local stockists are experiencing greater disruptions.

So after watching the arrival dates on their website (crk) bounce around and change 4 times in the last 2 weeks... this morning it said low stock for the k-70 + 18-135mm...
My order was still showing "backorder".. A phone call to the adelaide branch and the lady assigned one to my order, she couldn't understand why it wasn't done earlier. Lucky I called them I guess
