Focus Screen removal on K-70

Had a lot of dust in my viewfinder - so i decided i would try to get rid of it.
Read a lot about how sensitive the focus screen should be, an d how easy it should be to destroy it.
Well i dicided i would give it a try anyway - if the worst thing should happen, it would be a good reason to buy the new K3-III when it's launched.
Long story short - I took the screen out cleaned it - reinstaled it- and it worked - no dust anymore.

Here is how i did it:

1. Press the springplate towards the front of the camera.

2. The focus screen holder with focus screen will then slide downwards.

3. Now you can gently take out the focus screen with a tweezer, be careful - only touching the small tap on the focus screen.

4.Genly cleaned it with a microfiber cleaning cloth, then a little trip with the air blower and at last i used the Pentax gel stick on the screen.

5. When you reinstall the focus screen, be sure it is aligned with the side fences on the screen holder.

Thanks,
I followed your tip on a used K-5 I bought here that had a speck on the screen. Good as new now!

I think what causes a lot of dust to get on the focus screen is actually using a rocket blower to clean the sensor - resulting in dust blown up to the screen.
I have found that using the rocket blower all around the edges of the focus screen itself, often removes most of the dust on the screen - ironically.
Anyways, I would recommend that people not use a rocket blower on the sensor of their new camera - use a sticky pen.

Totally agree on that.

I think the rocket blower also was the one that caused the dust to settle on the upper side of my focus screen in the first place. so also a warning from me about using the rocket blower too aggressive in the housing. To much air pressure might press the dust up above the screen.
