Dear Pentax,
be more specific in you future plans, please. Especially in this situation when there is gaps in your product lines.
Thank you and good luck!

Dear Pentax...

PLEASE, please, please, please, make your next camera's native aspect ratio be some integer fraction where both integers are less than 10.

4928/3264 does not equal 3/2, and I'm sick of cropping every single picture.

Dear Pentax

I have a very short wish list.
First and most important, Make the next generation of K mount camera, true to Pentax high value tradition, target the camera for the serious still photographer.
The specific features I would very much like to see are:
An articulating LCD
Built in GPS
Improved functions in live view.
It would be great to take the sensor from the Sony A-99 and coax better preformance from it as you have done in recent models..

Thanks,
Pentax Bob

Dear Pentax
If you make filterless design for Q20s it will be the first P&S camera for Superb Resolution with tiny sensor!

Dear Pentax,
I think your next camera will be APS-C, because you do not have FF zoom lenses but APS-C environment already exists. I understand K-5II is not really new product (it has 2009 year processor). Developing K-5II you decided to use Prime II because it is good for still images but Prime M is good for video. So I hope your next camera will have processor which will not force a consumer to choose between “good picture or good video”

Example specs:
- new processor Prime III (14 bit RAW, and at least 720p@60)
- more than 11 focus points (at least central point should be double crossed 5.6/2.8)
- focus peaking (during video recording if possible)
- same or bigger (3,2”) screen (same quality as K-5II has)
- manual settings for video
- all other features like in Pentax K-5II

My wish

How about an old school looking full frame model, that is my dream. I know, I know its shown with an APC lens mounted on it.

And to trim costs on the imaginary models pictured in post number 967… Don't really need the top mounted display, because either the viewfinder or rear viewscreen would do just fine.

Hear, hear! If Olympus have had such a success with their OM-D EM-5, so why couldn't Pentax produce something old school as well..?

I'd suggest few modifications in order to make it functional:
- add space below for autofocus
- make it thicker, because you need space for the sensor (with its SR mechanism), electronics and LCD
- a larger battery should be used, add space for that. A grip would be the perfect place to put it.
- the AF/shutter+mirror motors would also need some space.
I guess the end result would resemble a K-5, only somewhat larger

Suggestions:
1) 10mm prime lens
2) 9-20mm zoom lens
3)150-450 zoom lens

Commentary on why I make those suggestions:

Pentax currently has too many lenses overlapping the zone from 50mm to 100mm (50mm f1.4; 50mm f2.8 macro; 70mm; 77mm; 100mm macro; 16-50mm; 17-70mm; 18-55mm; 18-135mm; 50-135mm; 50-200mm; 55-300mm; 60-250mm). How about a 200-450mm f4~5.6 EDIF?
I agree, and to make matters worse, at least for myself, I've done an inventory of EXIF data sampling my photos and it appears that I use the 50mm to 150mm the very least. I'm either shooting a wide angle landscape image from 10mm to 40mm or reaching for a telephoto lens to bring something closer, 250mm + range. Pentax really is limited on the wide angle zoom and prime lenses when it comes to top quality bang for the buck, probably not that great in the 300mm + range either. How about a 10-20mm zoom lens or even a 9mm prime?! Some might not use it, but I would be fitting it on and leaving it on for most shots and crop as needed, much more efficient than piecing together multiple 20 or 40mm shots, tweaking them in Photoshop, blending, then HDRing them. I could use less steps, not more in my photo creations. True a 10mm lens would be better on a camera with a FULL frame sensor, but that goes without saying

- I'm guessing its an EVF?

Overall I like it a lot. I think it's the size of a K1000 or Spotmatic they could almost pull this off. Would be a fun product for sure, I'd buy it.

Yet again the 16mp resolution of the K5 is stopping me in my tracks. I did a crop of a recent photo, taking out 25% of the original image. Went to see if I could print a 18" print, and found it too pixilated, tried 16... Nope. 12" print is the max I could get this cropped image to print, even at a reduced 240dpi.

Pentax, please bring me a 24mp APS-C or FF, I don't care which, I just want more mega pixels so I can print @ 16-20" prints, even if I have to crop something out a bit. Please do it soon.

Priority for me:
More resolution
Low light AF accuracy
Faster flash sync speed (250?)

If you can get me the above, then there's no reason for me to keep oogling the D600

Starting to think that this isn't true if you know how to print.

So did you take out 25 % (off the total pixels) ending with 12 megapixel, or did you chop off 25 % on each site ending with 9 megapixel?

I have an A3 print here made from 6.5 megapixel that is great.

Dear Pentax
Could we please have a software upgrade for the K-01 so that it is able to use the astrotracer function? It would make a great camera even greater.
