KAF4 support for K-5 and K-5II series

Hello
Please will you pass along my request for a firmware update for the superb K-5 and K-5II/s series to support the new KAF4 lens mount.
Thanks
Graham
PS - I wanted to add my request to the thread below but was not able to add a reply, so had to start a new thead for an existing topic.

It would be nice if the K5 firmware update could also support Pentax's DFA 150-450 lens. The focusing speed with this combo is slow while the DFA's lens mounted focusing buttons don't work on the K5.
Cheers

Yes... ! An update for K-30 and K-5IIS to support KAF4 lenses would be very much appreciated, since i plan to stay with those cameras until real significant updates to the full frame or APS-C flagships appear.(no need for downgrades in burst rate or clarity) but i would be very much interested in the 70-300mm lens since it is said of to be very fast in focusing.

AFAIK such an update is not in the works. Upon user request, Pentax already extended support to the K-50 and K-3 beyond the originally-supported bodies. It's not likely that we'll see continuing updates for 5+ year old bodies, as nice as it would be.

With the rapidly falling prices of used K-3 and K-S2's, it's a great time to upgrade those K-5 and K-30's

I'd expect a new APS-C flagship soon, as the sensor in the KP is already putting the K-3 to shame IQ-wise.

Yet the IQ in the K-5 series still punches above its weight..

I don't expect KAF4 support in the K-5II either but it would be generous if Ricoh did offer it.

There *IS* "unofficial" support for KAF4 for the K-30: Read this thread...
Running K-50 firmware on K-30 - PentaxForums.com

Now, if some enterprising individual could do this for the K-5 family, it would be nice!

The hardware is entirely different in the K-5 series... the only reason the K-30 got an unofficial firmware update is because the hardware in the K-50 is the same.. the firmware is simply the K-50 firmware with a few mods to get it to bypass safety controls and load onto the K-30.

I am sure Ricoh is looking into the next version of Image Sync. While the App does pretty much what it is supposed to do, there are some areas that I hope will improve.
Firstly it would be nice to be able to view the image horizontally instead of just vertically right now which gives you a very small image. Secondly, the App only allows single shot shooting. It will be nice to have the option of a burst mode of some sorts such as firing three shots or five shots in succession at the press of the App's shutter button.
Hope you could add these to the suggestion list.
Thank you.

I would prefer an official update without shutterfly.

It's really depressing to read this. I really would like to have an update for my K-5II. Maybe they can have a PLM motor on some lenses with the aperture lever. I'm still hoping for an update.

I add to this. Recently got a 2nd hand K5IIs and will buy a 55-300. I would love to give Pentax more money for the new PLM version of the lens but I've read elsewhere that PLM support for K5II is mostly unrealistic. So I'll get the older lens for less bucks...

Older lenses will be cheaper but the kAF4 lenses have much much better AF due to the PLM motor. If you've seen the demo in one of the threads here, you'd be willing to let go of your old lenses and get the new ones. One solution would be accept orders of lenses with PLM motors using kAF3 mount. But that would be too costly to maintain 2 sets of mount.
