I recently went to one of my local authorized Pentax dealers (St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada) to buy the Pentax waterproof remote control O-RC1. The first four units the clerk and I tested did not work on either my K-1 or one of the Ricoh WG-5 units they had in stock. All of these O-RC1 units had Ricoh packaging, so it wasn't a matter of the batteries dating back to the Hoya era or earlier.

That is an awfully high failure rate, considering the battery in this model is supposed to last for 10s of thousands of acutations (according to the operator's manual).

I have a Pentax Remote Control F from film era, so far did not change the battery and it works with K-1
