Although this suggestion is aimed for K-1 it might be applicable to other models as well.
"
Onion skinning is a 2D computer graphics term for a technique used in creating animated cartoons and editing movies to see several frames at once. This way, the animator or editor can make decisions on how to create or change an image based on the previous image in the sequence."
wikipedia
For obvious reasons, Onion Skin mode mode would only be possible combined with Live View mode.
In this mode you would select a previously taken photo, the default setting would be the last one but you could use any other photo, and it would be displayed superimposed with the Live View image.
One setting dial could be used to define the proportion of each of the images to mix, for instance from 10/90% to 90/10% (reference image/live view) - extreme values are useless (0/100% or 100/0%)!
It would be useful to have an onion skin mode not only for
multiple exposure but also for
stop motion and to create
custom composition grids, other than thirds, fifths or diagonals... You would just have to draw your custom grid, make a photo of it, and use it in onion skin mode.
