DA* 300mm tripod lens foot replacement

Hi there,

I have a DA*300mm and I use a holdfastgear moneymaker. Therefore I wanted to tighten the tripod lens foot extremely well and guess what. The thing broke. It looks to be made of cast aluminium or something like that and apparently can not take the tightening I thought I needed to hang the whole K3 and lens combo upside down.
To solve this problem I do use a M plate on the body now, but would like to switch back to a tripod lens foot kind of setup as that balances the setup better.
Is there a place to get a “better” original or is there a good alternative obtainable.

Hi Richard,
It is not easy to guess what "thing" broke... For example: for screws replacement I use ebay. Just enter 1/4" screw.

No, unfortunately it is not that.
The Adjustable gripping part That locks the thing in place snapped in two.

I think if you get another original tripod collar/foot and don't over tighten it you will be fine. I've carried my DA* 300 by the foot for six years. There are several third party tripod collars available, but I doubt any are specific for the DA 300, but maybe some could work.

There is a pentax one for sale on this forum. I got a tip about it and contacted the seller. Just have to see if shipping is not to ridiculous as the foot is in the US and I am in the Netherlands.

And i will most certainly not overtighten it again

I got my tripod foot, or however you want to name it, and it works great. Been looking for one for some time.
One of the reasons this forum is so great is people helping each other. Gets rarer these days, but here it’s still present.

I once got a replacement for a DA 60-250 directly from the Pentax repair center in France ( I live in the Netherlands as well).
Took several emails and pictures with illustrations to point out which part I needed, but I they send it to me eventually.

MIght be handy if you break another one
