HD DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR.
That's wrong. The HD DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR has been released in 2013.

The correct answer is:
HD FA 35mm F2

Fair enough, the investment required to add seals and HD coatings to the DA 55-300 probably wasn't much more than what was required to fabricate a a slightly different barrel to replace a part that was no longer available and add HD coatings to the FA 35 f2. The original point that Ricoh hasn't developed a truly new screw-drive lens for more than a decade is still valid. The DA 18-135 with a DC motor was released in 2010 and the owners of the Pentax brand have been putting their best efforts into non-screw-drive lenses every since. The SMC DA 15 Limited was released in 2009, the SMC DA 55-300 was released in 2008, the first version of the DA 18-55 kit lens in 2004 and the FA 35 f2 in 1999.

That's correct.
But the question was about the latest released lens, not about the latest new developed lens.

Might see an upgrade to the FA limiteds if Pentax decides to ditch the screw drive autofocus motor from the next camera after the K3iii. We might already be seeing Pentax testing that transition if the new DFA21 Limit omits the screw drive also, then one can expect new Limiteds for full frame to follow suit in the (distant) future

I think it's understood that's not a new lens but a current, existing part of the catalogue they started making with new coatings.

It is a different lens, so no old lens. Only the optical formula is old.
Like with the 10-17mm Fisheye, the physical design did chane - more ore less.

Not different lenses, Angerdan. Reissues with updated coatings and materials - the hood for the 10-17 is apparently now more full frame friendly.

You are braver than me to be making predictions about photographic equipment in the distant future. I am reasonably confident that there is a distant (more than 10 years from now) future for standalone cameras with interchangeable lenses, but I don't think there is a good business case to continue developing new features and new designs. Perhaps the future will be two, maybe three manufacturers who keep producing small quantities of what is currently available.
