Reviving the K-01 for a special purpose

I've been using the K-01 extensively for a special purpose, that is photocopying printed matter and photographs (mostly for my own personal archive). This is actually a very large photographic segment as the world is (still) in transition from a paperbased culture to a digital. The need for such cameras in archives and libraries is great.

The K-01 is very very good at this. It's light, it has snappy AF, it has a screen where the image is visible even when the M-settings suggest an underexposure (note, your DSLR:s don't) which is very important since this kind of photography is done with remotely controlled flashes. It has the option of remote control with or without AF, a good range of options for interval shooting (very important) and lastly it has controls for image aspect ratio, image size and image quality easily and extensibly adjustable. An important feature is the possibility of applying filters in interval shooting.
DNG ooc is also a great asset.
Now, just bringing the K-01 back into production would be great. Better still:
- with an improved sensor of about 24 mp without lowpass filter.
- with improved focus peaking (see Sony A7II) for using manual lenses
- with the horizontal adjustment indicators also made able to indicate when the camera is pointing straight down
- with an articulating screen. The K-1 model is great.

What you don't need to bother with is weather sealing, tracking or otherwise fancy AF (a large part of the image needs to be covered by AF, though) or extreme miniaturization of the body.

This should be possible with your existing technology and without any hard of costly policy choices.

Yours truly
